Daytona Beach Florida

Daytona Beach Florida with thrills and chills for all is home to NASCAR Daytona 500, the Daytona International Speedway and is known as 'The World's Most Famous Beach'.

With over 23 miles of white sandy beaches there is something to do here for everyone from lazing on a beach to attractions with thrills and chills for all the 'car' people (you know, boys from 9 to 90).

There’s so much to say about Daytona Beach we’re not sure where to start but let's go:

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines!

Daytona: The World's Most Famous Beach

Want a real thrill? Check out the Richard Petty Driving Experience. You can jump into a car and become a NASCAR race car driver for a little while. You will get an idea what these drivers experience every time they get behind the wheel for a race.

There are a couple of different options to choose from:

  • You can ride along with one of the experienced riders OR
  • You can drive one of the cars yourself for a few laps (if you’re willing to fork over a few more bucks).

For something else fun you can't do at home, go to Daytona'a Ormond Beach at the north end and drive your car on the beach.

The sand is very dense here and the beach is wide enough to allow automobiles. You will love zipping along the shoreline with ocean breezes blowing your hair in all directions! A fun experience for the entire family!

Ormond Beach is also called the Birthplace of Speed because this is where car racing began. See the Ormond Beach link below for more info.

Fun activities and nearby attractions

  • The Daytona International Speedway. Even during non-racing season, you can still take an exciting tour, see incredible cars and learn all about the racing world.
  • Visit the Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse and Museum. Learn the history of the area and get a view of the area from high in the sky.

  • For culture, don't miss the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach Florida. You will enjoy the wide array of historical paintings and creations even if you aren't an art enthusiast. Just have to appreciate beauty.

  • For a fun time on the water, take a tour of the Halifax River.

  • Go to Tomoka State Park and tour the beautiful Tomoka River. (Pssst: There are deep-sea fishing tours at reasonable prices because there are so many of them available).

  • Daytona Beach Florida for shopping? Yep, the surf and beach shops have everything. The riverfront marketplace is the best place for souvenirs for the people you left back home.

  • Plan a picnic at the Sun Splash Park and enjoy the interactive water fountain where the family will splash and play to sheer exhaustion.

Kids of most ages: One of Daytona’s coolest places, DAYTONA USA allows the family to participate in the most exciting features of the Daytona 500. This includes the highly popular Daytona Dream Laps Ride which simulates zooming around the track at high speeds. Hold on to your hat!

You can easily spend an entire fun and educational day here. There are interactive and race-themed rides and attractions for all members of your group. Or, perhaps you would like to go home as an expert on the history of racing, whether it's stock car, motorcycle or go cart. It is all here!

Sleeping: A lovely beachfront hotel that offers comfort and solitude away from Daytona’s bustling atmosphere can be found at the Royal Holiday Beach Motel.

You can also stay in a more expensive beach resort such as the Tropical Manor, a little beach oasis of its own.

Eating: Just as with any popular tourist destination spot, there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. Try the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company for some tasty seafood dishes or try the Ocean Deck Restaurant and Beach Club for a good meal while enjoying fantastic beach views.

Don't forget to read all about the Birthplace of Speed at Daytona's Ormond Beach Florida.
