This is Fort De Soto Park. It is very large compared to other dog beaches. It is on Tampa Bay, but clean, as the tide moves things around a lot. So, at the north end of the beach you can find some nice shells. There is also a sandbar at this beach with many sand dollars. Please wait till they die and wash up before you take them. Bathrooms on site and fenced grass area for dogs also.

Jean: Nancy and Mia, thanks so much! See Mia's pix on our Fort De Soto Park article (site map- Florida State Parks). Thanks for letting me know about the dog beach. Readers like you make a website better by adding your comments and pictures. Thanks again! :-)
BTW: Agree with Nancy; please don't pick up dark tan or greenish sand dollars as they are probably still inhabited. Throw them back into the ocean and give these living creatures more life! The bleached out white sand dollars are safe to take. Appreciate your help!

Fort De Soto Dog Beach

This picture was taken last summer (2010). I have yet to take Mia this year, but I think it will be sometime soon, as the water has reached 80 degrees. We will also be going to Venice Dog Beach, and also trying to find new ones to explore.

Hi Nancy, Yes, Mia is sure a good dog to not go beyond the sign. That is so cute. Darla said she had a great time and visit with you all. She is home safe and sound. Thankfully!! I am anxious to see pictures. Have you just recently been to this beach. Sounds like an great area. Love Diana
